Cancellation Policy
Amal Elanouari operates a boutique private practice, as such once we schedule an appointment, I hold that space just for you. As a courtesy to me, and as a courtesy to other clients on the waiting list or requesting to be seen sooner, I ask that you make any cancellations at least 2 business days in advance. This allows sufficient time to offer the new availability to others.
Note: If your appointment is Tuesday at 3pm, this means that you will need to notify me no later than Friday at 3pm. If you do not give 2 business days of notice, you will be responsible for the full session fee. Exceptions for emergencies are handled on a case-by-case basis.
Please expect a response time of 1-2 business days to return phone calls and emails, unless otherwise noted on my voicemail or out-of-office email reply. For any phone call or email that requires evaluation and significant medical decision making, I will kindly ask you to schedule an appointment as not to make important treatment recommendations over phone or email.
My office phone number is a secure phone line on which any confidential information can be left. Please note, I do NOT have the ability to guarantee any urgent or emergent availability, and I do not guarantee I will receive messages delivered outside of normal business hours until the following business day. If you are having a medical or psychiatric emergency, DO NOT WAIT for a call back. Instead call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.
Urgent or “Outside Normal Hours” Evaluations
Sometimes I receive requests for urgent evaluations because someone may be in a particularly high degree of distress or feel that they cannot wait to be seen until my next opening during regular business hours. While this is not guaranteed and not always possible, I may be able to see you sooner, if am able to manage to find a blocked time in my schedule with no fee. if outside of my normal hours, it will require an additional fee.
Other Outside-of-Appointment Services may include filling out forms, writing letters, responding to calls/messages, addressing refills and prior authorizations.
Generally, if I can complete the required task throughout the course of my workday, in under five minutes, there will not be any charge to you. Calls or tasks that last 5 minutes or longer or involve significant time outside of normal hours will be charged extra for each 15-minute increment.
If I am unavailable for an extended period of time (e.g., due to illness, professional conferences or vacation), I will provide the name and number of another clinician whom you may contact if necessary.
Ending Treatment
The progress and process of therapy is very important to address and to continually discuss with your psychotherapist. Typically, therapy ends when initial “objectives” or goals have been met, and both client and therapist feel that significant progress has been made. If at any time during the treatment relationship, you wish to consult with or transfer to another therapist, I encourage you to raise this in one of our sessions. I am able to help you find a qualified clinician with whom I will be able to consult with your written consent. If at any time you wish to end treatment, you have the right to do so.
Because psychotherapy is a different kind of relationship, it is important to discuss your plans to end therapy prior to doing so at least 2 weeks in advance. This will enable us to review progress made, engage in a process of termination for two sessions at least and make way for your next course of therapy. Though endings in therapy can be difficult, awkward or sometimes reminiscent of past experiences of loss, they are extremely important to discuss and acknowledge. On some occasions, it is the therapist who may choose to end a therapeutic relationship. Some reasons for this are: a patient is unable or unwilling to attend therapy regularly, a patient’s use of behaviors that make therapy ineffectual, the patient’s need for services I am unable to provide (such as treatment for an area outside of my expertise and training), minimal progress despite appropriate treatment, and/or reasons related to my own circumstances or limitations.
If you commit violence towards me, verbally or physically threaten or harass me, or my family, I reserve the right to terminate your treatment unilaterally and immediately. Failure or refusal to pay for services after a reasonable time is another condition for termination of services.
Payment
Payment (out of network and super bills only)
- Credit cards
- Debit cards include: Health Savings Account, Flexible Savings Account, or Health Reimbursement Account (HSA/FSA/HRA)
I, do not accept health insurance at this time, Payment is due in full at the time of visit. Cash/check/venmo and credit care payments are accepted. A superbill can be created for you to provide your insurance company for reimbursement.
They are advantages to being seen out-of-network: Access and Quality of care. You may be surprised to find that the reimbursement process can be easier than expected and out-of-network benefits are often higher.
